Event Details

Take your seat in the Hub Restaurant for an MKW keynote event exploring the food and agriculture of the oldest continuous culture on Earth.

Author of over 20 books, Bruce Pascoe’s Dark Emu won the Book of the Year as well as the Indigenous Writer’s Prize in the 2016 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards.

As the evening’s host, Bruce will delve into his research inverting the hunter-gatherer tag for precolonial Aboriginal Australians, by mining the diaries and writings of early explorers as evidence that Aboriginal people were sowing, harvesting, irrigating and storing food for millennia.

This feast of words will be accompanied by a specially curated menu of bushfood-infused dishes served in convivial share platters, catered by Mirritya Mundya.

Wheelchair accessible, Auslan interpretation on request

Date: Tuesday 21 May, 7pm - 10pm

Carbon neutral contribution

Melbourne Knowledge Week is committed to reducing its impact on the environment and will be certified carbon neutral for 2019.

This means we will measure the festival’s carbon emissions and implement actions to reduce them. Then we will purchase offsets on your behalf to cover the remaining emissions and achieve carbon neutrality.

Your contribution will go towards a range of offset projects including a reforestation project in NSW and a project which enables Aboriginal communities to reduce emissions through improved land management practices in the Kimberley.

Take action on climate change, act now.
